Our Story
Four Generations. One Mississippi Standard.
CPS Pools and Spas has been building backyard pools across Mississippi since 1957, making us the state’s oldest and largest pool builder. What began as one man excavating pools for other pool builders grew into a full pool-building contractor of his own, and four generations later, the same family still signs off on every project. We design, build, and maintain custom gunite and vinyl-liner pools across Madison, Ridgeland, Gluckstadt, Canton, Flora, the greater Jackson area, and throughout Mississippi.

A Family Business, Generation After Generation
1957
Thomas Gabe Draughn founds the company, starting out by excavating pools for other builders before becoming a full pool-building contractor of his own.
1970
His son, Larry Thomas Draughn, takes the helm and grows CPS across the region, expanding well beyond residential pools into commercial work and waterslides, with projects reaching across a five-state area.
1997
Larry’s sons, Shane and Tommy Draughn, take over the family business they grew up in.
January 2024
CPS opens its Gluckstadt showroom and design center, an elevated space to design a pool from the ground up.
Today
The fourth generation works alongside Shane and Tommy. Mason and Griffin (Tommy’s sons) and Kelly and Hunter (Shane’s daughter and son) are building across Mississippi and Louisiana, with more than 10,000 pools to the family’s name.
Under Larry’s leadership, CPS earned a reputation for craftsmanship that reached far past Mississippi. It’s a chapter of the company’s history that Tommy and Shane speak about with real pride in their father and the standard he set.
